"Pohutakawa" Exhibition Panel 2008

This panel is based on a design for a front door of a beachside residence and explores the layered effects of overlapping patterns to give privacy, but to retain contact with the outside world. It has been double-glazed with 2 layers of 6mm low-iron glass and a 20mm spacer. All sides have been sandblasted with the silhouettes of photographed pohutakawa leaves. The hand-blown red glass is laminated onto float glass, acid-etched and sandblasted with grid and leaves respectively. It appears to float in the centre of the clear glass.
